Terrace Garden is now trending to become the new beauty of many of our homes. In addition to  home decor items, this also brings in a lot of beauty, positivity and recreation at home. In this article, I will be putting down details about my terrace garden. I would say , one can put up a vegetable garden, fruit garden or even a flower garden at home.  As such, my terrace garden includes a variety of green babies.

To start with, my collection includes vegetables , fruits , flowers and even herbs but not any ornamental plants. To list out, my vegetable garden includes Ladys finger(Bindi or Okra) ,Brinjal , Tomato ,Shallots(Spring Onion) ,green chillies, Bitter Gourd and Radish(White).

My flower garden includes Kashmir Rose(Dark Red), Damask (Paneer Rose) and Hibiscus. Also, an extensive collection of Jasmine flowers including  Winter Jasmine(Jaathi Malli), Butterfly plea (Sangu Poo), Pink Jasmine , Indian Jasmine (Kokudi). Not just that, there are also Coral Jasmine (Cetal or Pavazhamalli), Spanish Jasmine (Cemmal),Wild Jasmine (Pittikam), Iruvatchi Jasmine (nallirunari) , Mullai and Tecoma (Thanga Arali). Lastly, I also have Tuberose (Champangi) which is a primary decor element of Indian garland collections.

My fruit garden is the smallest collection of all. This is because, I was very doubtful of the produce of it. But , I was wrong. I have Muskmelons, Watermelons ,Mango and Pomegranate. Believe me, they are small yet very tasty and are so sweet in all forms.

My Herbs include Purple Fruited Pea Egg Plant (Thoodhuvalai), Balloon Vine (Mudakathan) , Touch me not (thotta silungi). Adding to the above, I have Basil (Thiruneetru pacilai), Thulasi, Country Borage( Omavalli or Karpooravalli) and Keezhanelli (stonebreaker). Lastly, one most frequently used one Henna (maruthani) is also available. To know about their importance, click on each of them.

My greens include Mint (Pudhina), Palak , Amaranth (Sirukeerai),Methi(Vendhaya Keerai), Pendant Amaranth(Thandukeerai) , Murungaikeerai (Drumstick Leaves) and Pirandai(Veldt Grape).

All these are home grown in a very simple set-up with natural fertilizers prepared from Kitchen waste, the cheapest vermicompost manure and with no harmful pesticides. We use the simple mixture of Neem, Ginger and Turmeric to keep away bugs, insects and other pests. I would very frankly reveal that,I used a little sum of money, a little effort to save and use kitchen waste .Not to be forgotten, I take enough time in the morning and evening to water them. With this, I was able to get them growing. In addition, continuous monitoring with regular cutting down of stems and cleaning the garden  helped in enhancing their growth. Each of them have their own medicinal and nutritional significances in everyday life.

So, that is all about my garden . There is more to come. More about gardening and related concepts like fertilizers for garden, garden maintenance ,fertilizers for garden etc. Stay Tuned!

  2. I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found
any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth
enough for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers
made good content as you did, the internet will be
a lot more useful than ever before. I will immediately seize your rss feed as I can’t
in finding your email subscription link or e-newsletter service.

Thanks. Hi there would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using?
I’m looking to start my own blog soon but I’m having a difficult time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs
and I’m looking for something completely unique.
P.S Sorry for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
